Mecca Bingo to Help Maire Curie Cancer Care
A Mecca Bingo club situated in Chester have released details of who they are going to help support this year (charity wise). And we can reveal that their choosen charity for 2010 will be (Marie Curie Cancer Care) where it is the aim of the Mecca Bingo club on Brookdale Place to raise a target figure off £200,000 before this year is up – with the help of their customers and employees of course.
No doubt Mecca Bingo and their team of employees and members will do there upmost to reach this figure with a number of fundraising initiatives taking place during 2010. £200,000 would make a huge difference to Marie Curie, in fact that amount of cash would fund 10,000 of home nursing care for those that need it the most.
I have to say that I know from firsthand experience that Marie Curie nurses do an outstanding job in very difficult circumstances, as they are dealing with people who have terminal illnesses. They provide the opportunity for them to be cared for at home surrounded by people they love, rather than being stuck in a hospital bed.
So it is great that bingo players will be able to do there bit to help this very worthwhile charity in association with Mecca Bingo, who’s fundraising antic’s often raise an eyebrow.
As reported by Chester First, a Mecca Bingo spokesman said: “We are really excited to be launching our new charity of the year partnership with Marie Curie Cancer Care. I am confident that our customers will help our enthusiastic team members pull out all the stops to reach our target. We have all kinds of enjoyable fundraising events in the pipeline, starting with the Great Daffodil Appeal, which we will be supporting from January to March.”
Speaking about the partnership with Mecca Bingo, Siobhan Heffernan (fundraiser for Marie Curie) said: “At around 10pm each evening, Mecca Bingo customers will be leaving their local club and heading home with friends and family after a great night out.
“At the same time, Marie Curie nurses like me will be arriving at the homes of our patients, ready to start our shift and give the families a well earned rest from caring for their loved one. I’m sure that Mecca Bingo team members and customers alike will rise to this fundraising challenge for 2010, and get their friends and families involved, knowing that their efforts will help terminally ill people.”
