Mecca Bingo Raise Half a Million
Mecca Bingo have been on a charity drive like we have not seen before for their chosen charity (Whiz Kidz) with some outstanding results! News has just filtered through that their fundraising efforts have now smashed through the half a million pound barrier.
This means that Mecca Bingo have well and truly surpassed their original target of £400,000, with a cool £516,000 now sitting in the Whiz Kidz charity bank pot. The charity fundraising events Mecca Bingo have been on over the past couple of years have ranged from being humorous with (heels for wheels) to downright spooky (with the Halloween paranormal night).
Mark Jones, Managing Director of Mecca Bingo comments: “The partnership with Whizz-Kidz in 2008/9 was the first charity of the year partnership that we’ve undertaken and we have not looked back. We’ve raised over £500k, funded mobility equipment for many children within the communities that we operate and our team members and customers have wholeheartedly embraced it.
He also went on to say, “I have personally been impressed by the ingenuity of the fundraising, and by the manner in which individual clubs took the charity to their hearts; working so hard to make a difference to local children. £500,000 over two years is no mean feat – we accomplished what we set out to achieve, and I applaud everyone involved.”
Mecca Bingo have long been a supporter of raising money for charity through a number of different initiatives. Between 2003 and 2007, Mecca Bingo worked closely with the National Bingo Game Association (NBGA) to help raise funds for their (Breakthrough Breast Cancer Appeal). In 2008, Mecca Bingo decided to go it alone with their fundraising efforts, with the sole aim or trying to support lots of different local charities over time.
Whizz Kidz was the first (go it alone) charity partnership they struck up, where with the help of their employees and customers, Mecca Bingo has achieved an amazing feat and what a very worthwhile cause they choose to support.
Since 1990, Whizz Kidz have changed the lives of well over 7,500 disabled children and with the help of charity campaign partnerships, like the one undertaken with Mecca Bingo, Whizz Kidz will have the tools to change many more children’s lives for the better in years to come.
