Babyshables front man Pete Doherty has taken on an outlandish challenge. The 31 year old has been rocking with The Libertines with the Babyshambles and on his own in his recent solo album over the last 13 years, now he has decided to show versatility by joining forces with up and coming rap star Smiler.
Doherty met with the South London rap star in a studio complex in the capital. Smiler was invited by Pete himself to come along to the NME Weekender which took place just a few weeks ago.
There was rumours that work was going on between them after the festival weekender however They invited us to “NME’s weekender, where they were performing. We just went along to hang out, it wasn’t a business thing at all, we just got on really well”.
It appeared the some discussion must have been made as just a week later Doherty and Babyshambles guitarist Mick Whitnall visited Smiler in a studio to do some work together, Smiler commented on the recent connections with Pete and the band according to Sun reports he said “Through hanging out there was talk of doing stuff together. The next week, Pete and Mick came up to the studio to check what I was doing and he jumped on a track straight away”.
He continued “Pete’s a really cool guy, he wanted to work with me before he even heard anything I’d done. He knows his music and he’s not bound by genre”
Pete will feature on the track The Man I Used To Be, he will sing the opening section and chorus of the song that will appear on Smiler’s fourth coming album.
The rap genre isn’t totally out of Pete’s comfort zone he previously worked with well known grime act Lethal Bizzle on their 2006 track Boy.
And Doherty has expressed his love for the music genre on many occasions however claming he often chooses to leave it to the professionals. It seems that this time he just can’t help but get involved.

It is that time of year again when ten celebrities are put in a jungle and are brutally voted by the public to do those dreadful bush tucker trials, yes it must be I’m a celebrity get me out of here.
The show kicks off this Sunday on ITV 1 where we are once again greeted with Britain’s favourite Geordie double act Ant and Dec who are hosting the show.
This year’s show as always has a variety of different if somewhat strange mix of celebrities.
The line-up of celebrities includes the lovable X factor contestant Stacey Solomon a source says that Stacey admits to being squeamish and dislikes bugs.
Don’t think she’ll cope to well in the bush-tucker trials then. The next unexpected celebrity to enter the jungle this year is former Lib Dem MP Lembit Opik, wonder if he will gain more votes in the jungle than he did in the general election.
Punk rocker Happy Mondays front man Shaun Ryder is the next celeb to take on the challenge, a source says that the fearless star is not bothered by the bush-tucker trials. Gold medal winner, Linford Christie is also facing the grueling jungle, surly this should be no problem for the gold medalist sprinter who claims to have no phobias.
We can expect lots of shower scenes of playboy model Kayla Collins, a source says that Kayla gets freaked out by insects, she could very well make the bush tucker trials entertaining. Rapper, Agro Santos and TV nutritionist, Gillian McKeith are said to share the same phobias of heights- let’s hope they’re not jumping out of a plane then.
Pampered former bond girl, Britt Ekland 68, has admitted to a close source that she likes extreme comfort but has said that she has no fears about entering the jungle.
Gazza’s ex, Sheryl Gascoigne is also up for the task and a source says that Sheryl hopes to gain a career out of this.
And finally to complete the lucky list of celebrities set to face this year’s jungle is actor, Nigel Havers who has most recently played a con man in corrie who is apparently going to be writing base a novel about his jungle experience let’s hope he isn’t voted off first then.

It has been all over the news since Sundays X Factor sing off between Katie and Treyc Cohen, and all the talks of the result being fixed may be true! Yes the shows long term presenter Dermot O’ Leary has let some information slip about what happened on Sundays results show.
Dermot revealed that there was a plot to save Katie who couldn’t even sing properly during what was meant to be her make or break sing off. Singing the words “don’t give up on me” she forgot the words started to laugh and ended up shouting “sod it!” and sat down to finish the song off in a less than convincing style.
Apparently according to Dermot the plot was arranged minutes before the judges where asked to make their decision of who they want to send home. He said he was told “If Cheryl decides to opt out go to the majority vote”.
Viewers expected Cheryl to be asked to make her decision last as it usually is when two of one judges acts are in the bottom two however they where shocked when they witnessed her asked second after Simon Cowell opted to save Katie.
Cheryl decided not to vote and apparently that’s what the producers where banking on. Dermot then without much pressure towards Cheryl moved on and carried out the majority vote which saw Danii vote to save Treyc and then Louis Walsh put an end to the ordeal sending home Treyc by saving Katie.
If the decision went down to public deadlock Katie would have been going home however Dermot defended not going to public deadlock claiming “You can’t do that because then it kind of devalues the other two judges’ votes so that wouldn’t have made sense”
However he did pick up on the order in which the judges where chosen to vote in, and said “It would have been a lot easier for me for Cheryl to be last”.
It don’t look like this story is going to die down to soon, who knows what could happen if the judges feel they can do what they want, anyone could win or go home at that matter!

Controversial rap star Kanye West was the centre of attention during a US flight recently.
Around 30 minutes into flight the 33 year old took to the intercom and introduced himself by saying “Yo, this your man Kanye”. He then couldn’t decide which one of his classic hits he wanted to sing, he was caught between ‘Gold-digger’ and ‘Good-Life’ so he ended up doing a little bit of both, much to the delight of the passengers.
A passenger who was luckily on that flight commented on the shock performance saying “I had to pass through first class to get my seat in economy, and I saw Kanye sitting there with a little drink in his hand. – I wouldn’t have even thought it was him, but he was sitting with a very PR-looking lady”
He continued “Then he couldn’t decide if he wanted to do Good Life or Gold Digger, so he was like, ‘I’ll just do a little bit of both’. It was awesome”
A video of the on flight performance has since been posted on to broadcasting sites such as Youtube.
West has also made the news recently by claiming Scottish indie rockers Coldplay are better than The Beatles!
He told reporters his views on music and the difference between Coldplay and The Beatles saying “We have had amazing bands like Nirvana and Guns & Roses but it’s the British who have had the cream with The Beatles and The Rolling Stones setting the standard. I love Coldplay, and I honestly think they are on the same level as The Beatles.
He continued with his theory “In 30 years, when Coldplay are old men, people will look back and say, ‘These guys were more talented than The Beatles.’ I have worked with Chris Martin and the man is a genius – as a performer and a songwriter he is on the same level as John Lennon”.
These bold statements where published in yesterdays Sun newspaper.

Popstar Katy Perry went out with husband Russell Brand for the first time since their marriage. The pair was spotted on the red carpet at an MTV European Music awards ceremony in Madrid.
The couple got hitched in India last month and then went on their honeymoon in the Maldives. When being snapped by photographers on the red carpet they where wearing their beautiful matching wedding ring bands. Perry’s outfit was completed with a sparkling red cropped dress with the words ‘Admit One’ printed across the front.
Katy enjoyed the night and she also performed her new single ‘Firework’ for an outside audience and then picked up an award for best video for her smash hit ‘California Gurls’ she thanked “best f****** crowd in Europe” when she went up to receive the award.
It could have been a lot better for Katy if it wasn’t for a certain Lay Gaga who stole the show even when she didn’t turn up! Lady G won 3 awards beating Perry and Rihnna to them. Gaga wasn’t there to collect her awards as she was performing in Hungary as part of her monster world tour.
It could have been worse though poor Rihanna was not awarded nothing!
There was no luck for British talent, hopefuls Plan B and Muse left empty handed watching Paramore and Thirty seconds to mars claiming the gongs.
Bieber fever continued to with the young Canadian sensation picking up two gongs, one for the Best Push artist and the Best Male award.
Rock veteran Bon Jovi won the ultimate prize of the night, landing MTV EMA Global Icon award, Bon Jovi have recently signed up to perform at next years 40th Hard Rock Calling event in London’s Hyde Park, tickets are now on sale for the June Event.
