Tickets for the UK’s most popular festival (Glastonbury) went on sale on Saturday and thousands of eager fans swamped internet distributors to purchase their ticket for the music event.

The Glastonbury bash is still over 8 months away however that didn’t stop punters getting all excited when the tickets officially went on the market at 9am Saturday morning.

Tickets flowed out in just four hours although there was a slight glitch in that time period when the Glastonbury Twitter feed had to assure fans that “just under half the tickets where are available”, this come after customers struggled to access sites who where selling the precious tickets.

In a comment made on the official Glasto website and their Twitter page customers where thanked for their patience, the comment read “We’re very sorry to those of you who didn’t get tickets, and acknowledge there were some issues with the website/phoneline due to the sheer volume of people trying to get through”.

Ticket prices have slightly gone up since last years sales by £10, this time customers had to cough up £195 including a postage and package fair to, all to go to the huge weekend gig which doesn’t yet have a line up.

Ireland rock band U2 are likely to take to the stage at the event following the unfortunate case of having to pull out from a headline spot June’s 30th year anniversary of Glasto, this was due to front-man Bono having to undergo back surgery.

Despite having to drop from the line up this year U2 have made more money than any other recording artist in the last 15 months. Racking up a lucrative £84.9 million by mid July, and if the Irishmen land a set at the 2011 Glastonbury event the figure will rise notably.

Glastonbury is scheduled to take place at Worthy farm, Pilton, music to be on the 24th 25 and 26th of June with the gates opening for the event on the 22nd.
