Gala Bingo Reveal Lucky Dates
According to statistics released by Gala Bingo online, the 27th February 2009 was the luckiest date of the lot, as it is the day they gave away the most money last year. Gala Bingo claim that they currently payout around £65 million pounds per month to their lucky winners, which is a staggering amount of cash by anyone’s standards.
Will the 27th February turn out to be just as lucky for Gala Bingo players in 2010? Well we will just have to wait to find out about that one, but as this date has just been and gone, all may be revealed shortly.
Gala Bingo also revealed that Julie was the luckiest ladies name last year and David topped the lot out of the men.
Speaking about this interesting fact, Professor Geoff Beattie said: “Certain names such as Julie and David do seem to be perceived as luckier than others because they have more positive associations. If you have a name that’s consistently seen positively then good things will happen to you and you will seem lucky. In other words, lucky names might well be those that have the biggest unconscious positive influence on those around us. Imagine the long-term influence of this positive halo effect – credit is given, even where credit may not be due.”
Is this all hype, or is there actually some truth in it? I was also a bit startled to learn that in a poll which was commissioned by Gala Bingo, one in three brits said they would change their name by (deed poll) if it meant luck was guaranteed. I say (startled) because this is taking it to the extreme and as we know nothing in this life is truly guaranteed!

I can vouch somewhat for the name (Linda) being lucky……my aunt Linda decided to attend an evening session at her local bingo club at the last minute. She only just made it to the bingo hall in time to purchase her bingo tickets and wasn’t she glad she did because she won a whopping £100,000 playing the national bingo game on the night. So there could be some truth in the lucky names list from Gala Bingo after all.
