Diana Vickers in Record Row

Rising pop star Diana Vickers could be facing a tough slap on the wrist after being accused of plagiarising material from a Red Hot Chili Peppers classic to write her new single (My Wicked Heart).
The US rock legends have slammed teenage Vickers for using a very similar sound to their 1992 hit ‘Under the bridge’, a song about heroin addiction.
Diana performed on last nights X-Factor show for the first time since she was one of the finalists herself two years ago. She sang the controversial song which will be made a single and will become available to download on Sunday.
When quizzed about the songs similarities she didn’t deny the fact the song was in her head stating Yeah that happened without even knowing. – We wrote the song in an hour. We had the song and it didn’t have the My Wicked Heart bit in it and then we put the vocal in and we were like, ‘Why does it sound so familiar?’”.
She continued “Then we realised it was because we were listening to Under The Bridge the day before. We were saying, ‘Should we change it? Should we not? What should we do? Sod it, no, we’re just gonna keep it, it works”. These where the worriless quotes published in Saturday Sun Newspaper.
This may not help her case the angry Red Hot Chili Peppers decide to take legal action against the singer. Which it looks likely as they are annoyed that she didn’t ask permission to use the songs resemblance.
She seems very happy at the moment and especially last night when she re-enacted the music video as she strutted around the stage resembling a ring leader. It doesn’t appear that she knows what kind of trouble she could get into if the accusations go any further.
