Brits make their own Bingo Luck
According to new research released by Gala Bingo last week, Brits make their own luck when it comes to bingo or anything else for that matter. They revealed that 84% of Britain’s will use power of thought and a positive mental attitude to try and make 2010, a luckier year than 2009. It has always been said that positive thinking can go a long way in aiding recovery of an illness etc, but can it really help to change your luck?
Gala Bingo stated that they undertook their latest survey in a bid to see how the UK was preparing to be up on their luck this year. Gala Bingo asked people (what do you believe brings you luck?). The results were as follows
1. Touching wood
2. Finding a penny (see a penny, pick it up and all that day you’re have good luck – pass it on to a friend and your luck will never end)
3. Seeing a shooting star
4. Making a wish on a roast turkey wishbone
5. Throwing salt over your shoulder
6. Saluting a magpie
7. Wishing on a loose eyelash
8. Seeing a black cat
9. Bird dropping falling on us
10. Catching dandelion seeds in the breeze
It has to be said that us Brits are notorious for being a superstitious lot and many of these good luck sayings have been around for years, although there were a few that even I had not heard of before like wishing on an eyelash!
When exploring what lucky charms people thought brought them the most luck, Gala Bingo reported the following results.

And just who are thought to be the luckiest people of the lot? Well the luck of the Irish as expected ranked no 1! Cockneys come in at no 2, south coast of England 3, Scottish 4, and last but not least Geordies ranked in at no 5.
