888.com the name behind 888 Ladies Bingo have recently undergone a major re-branding of their names logo and this will affect all the (888) gaming sites which currently include 888 Casino, 888 poker, 888 Sport, 888 Games and 888 Bingo.
The re-branding of 888 Ladies Bingo and all 888.com sites is set to incorporate unified and eye catching logos, as well as a fresh modern new look. This should mean that all their brands will speak the (same gaming language) and have a united front.
888 Ladies Bingo are the flagship site for 888.com and they remain one of the top bingo sites on the net today. 888 recently launched another new site on the online bingo airwaves – 888Bingo, but whilst 888 Ladies Bingo is a standalone site running on globalcom software, which by the way is owned by a subsidiary company of 888, dragonfish…….888Bingo runs on the globalcom network.
888Bingo does offer a fun and straight forwards online bingo experience for players on the net, but it does not quite live up to its sister site 888 Ladies Bingo. It is thought that 888Bingo will be moved to a standalone bingo setting in the not so distant future, so we look forwards to this change.
The branding name of 888Ladies, suggests that they target is the female population within the UK, but 888Bingo is more of a unisex name and their homepage of this bingo site which is in black and red…..backs up this fact. Log onto 888 Ladies Bingo and you will find it much more girly homepage……..although men and women alike do play at this bingo site……the site does aim at the ladies.
More and more men are now playing bingo online, but women do still outnumber them in this area. Unisex online bingo in my view is definitely the way forwards……….so sites should throw out the pink and bring in a more uniformed look, which both the guys an girls will enjoy and not ostracize one or the other.
888.com are leaders in their field and I believe will remain at the forefront of online gaming for some time to come.

Earlier this year 888 Ladies Bingo run a golden ticket TV advertising campaign, where £5 million pounds was up for grabs. Two online bingo adverts in relation to this offer have just been banned by the ASA – (Advertising Standards Authority) for being misleading after just the one complaint was made by a viewer.
Although £5m was on the bingo table to be won at 888 Ladies Bingo in their golden ticket game, it was only actually guaranteed to payout £50,000………..still a very nice sum of cash, but this is where the (misleading) bit come into play.
To win the £5 million you would need to have won the full house within 24 calls or less, after this the prize money on offer would start to drop down and would continue to fall until it reached the guaranteed £50k mark. So although it was possible to win £5m when the golden ticket game was played……………..it was extremely unlikely and that’s putting it mildly.
In one of the 10 second golden ticket adverts from 888 Ladies Bingo, it dictated a lady in her bedroom shouting “I won” whilst jumping up and down. The voice-over said “Simply play bingo and you could win loads of golden tickets to our massive £5-million game. Only at 888ladies.com”.
Cassava Enterprises (Gibraltar) Ltd t/a 888ladies.com (Cassava), were obviously going to stand up against the one complaint. They said – “the ads did not make any claims about a guaranteed maximum cash prize but concentrated on the games golden ticket entry mechanism. They said 30 golden tickets were allocated daily to new and existing players on the 888ladies bingo website and those ticket holders were awarded free entry to the £5-million 24-ball-game. They argued that the ad related to the free entry to the game through this ticket allocation and not to an amount that was guaranteed to be won in the final game.”
The ASA of course took all this into consideration and noted many facts about the adverts, however they upheld the complaint, so the golden tickets ads cannot now be shown again on TV in their current form. However, I don’t think 888 Ladies Bingo are going to be that bothered, as their golden ticket game has now finished.

The game of bingo has got a least one vote from conservative MP for Crewe and Nantwich, Edward Timpson. Mr Timpson revealed to the guardian newspaper that he often enjoys playing bingo at his local land based club with his mum and he has also been campaigning to get tax for bingo on a more level pegging gaming field.
In the last pre-budget report we did see the UK government give some tax concessions to the bingo industry by reducing tax from 22% to 20%, but when you consider that other forms of gaming still sit at the 15% tax threshold including the game of online bingo……….land based bingo clubs are still being penalised in this area.
As we know many land based clubs have now closed their doors for the last time over recent years, but things do seem to have stabilised a bit in 2010. There has not been nowhere near as many bingo club closures this year, compared to the same time in 2009 for instance, so we can only hope this will carry on into the future.
Mecca Bingo themselves have been lobbing the government for years with regards to their unfair bingo tax regime.
