The Gala Coral Group, owners of Gala Bingo have secured their place in the Corporate Responsibility index…….which is another notch in the goal post for them. The team at Gala Bingo managed to get bronze in the (CRI) category for a number of different reasons and these included the charity drive they have been on for Sue Ryder Care during the past few years, their responsible gaming initiative and their strategy on environmental stewardship.
The corporate responsibility index provides businesses like Gala Bingo with a dedicated approach to management, plus measuring and reporting on business impacts on the environment and society as a whole. This in turn does help companies to integrate and improve their operations.
Stephen Howard, who is the Chief Executive, Business in the Community said: “I congratulate Gala Coral on achieving Bronze in the 2009 Business in the Community Corporate Responsibility Index. Companies participating in the Index may be at different stages of their responsible business journey, but they have all demonstrated that they take these issues seriously and are leading the field in ensuring this is just how they do business. We believe this is imperative if we are to strengthen and stabilise our businesses and economy.”
Speaking about their achievement, Dominic Harrison, Chief Executive, Gala Coral Group said: “We’re delighted to have been included in the Corporate Responsibility Index for the first time and we are aiming higher as we continue to work on clear corporate responsibility goals.
He also went on to say, “We were highly commended for our strong community partnerships where we have worked hard to raise over £1m for Sue Ryder Care. We also gained accolades for developing our strategy on environmental stewardship, where we have set and exceeded clear targets on carbon reduction.”
Gala Coral have been facing some very turbulent times lately (financial wise) but hopefully the worst is now behind them. Gala Bingo remains at the top of their game both online and offline and they continue to lead the way for others to follow. The game of bingo would just not be the same if Gala Bingo did not have a hand in it.

One very lucky Gala Bingo player from the oldest recorded town in the UK (Colchester) has just hit their high five jackpot to the tune of £250,000. The very lucky lady asked to remain anonymous, but she did speak to Gala about her massive jackpot win and here’s what she had to say –
“I am absolutely ecstatic with the win. It hasn’t sunk in yet! I’m going to spend the money on home improvements and a holiday. My friend and I have played bingo together at Gala Bingo Colchester for 14 years. We’ve always dreamed of winning the big one and we always said that we’d split it between us. We were so pleased we called on number five and got to share the jackpot with the rest of the club. We won’t stop coming to Gala Bingo though – we love it!’”
The great and unique feature of the high five jackpot at Gala Bingo is that the player who wins it takes half the prize money and the other half is shared by all other players in the club at the time.
Gala Bingo informed us that 248 members were present when the high five jackpot was won in Colchester, which means they all won a share of £125,000 and ended up with £504.03 each. Not bad for not even winning the game themselves!
Gala Bingo Colchester Club general manager Steve Riley said: “We’re absolutely thrilled for her. Someone from another club called ‘house’ at the same time so we thought the jackpot would be split two ways – but that turned out to be a false call. Everyone was so shocked – the players were all looking round in disbelief while the news sunk in. It took a while for everyone to calm down after that! The atmosphere was electric. All the players were thanking the winner for helping them win £504 each! Gala Colchester is a friendly club and Wednesday was certainly a night to remember.”
Indecently, this was the first ever high five jackpot win the Colchester Gala Bingo club has had since its introduction last year. On the other side of the coin the Gala Bingo club in Warrington saw two massive £250,000 jackpot winners in just six days……..now that’s what you call luck.

The Online Bingo Summit is one of the most anticipated bingo awards ceremonies of the year within the bingo industry and the results are now in.
Best Online Information Portal
In the category for Best Online Information Portal were some of the usual suspects, Which Bingo, Bingo Port, Bingo Base and Bingo Street and the new site Oh My Bingo.
Bingo sites have to send in a nomination themselves, but as it has been the same winner for years we never bothered to enter our Online Bingo Club portal as we thought the awards were skewed in favour of Which Bingo, who’s owner chairs the conference. But to our surprise, this years winner was Bingo Port, knocking Which Bingo off their favourite spot!
Best Online Bingo Operator for 2010
Next up we have the Best Online Bingo Operator for 2010 award. Nominees were – Foxy Bingo, Tombola Bingo, Ladbrokes Bingo, Paddy Power Bingo and Wink Bingo! And the winner was Tombola Bingo!
Best Newcomer for 2010
In the category of the Best Newcomer for 2010 were – Tea & Bingo, Red Bus Bingo, Tasty Bingo, Bingo Hollywood and Caesars Bingo. The winner was Tea and Bingo, with the award being picked up by Raj Ramanandi.
Best Online Bingo Software 2010
Runners for the Online Bingo Software 2010 award were – Dragonfish, Virtue Fusion, Gamesys, Cozy Games, Parlay Entertainment and NYX Interactive. Virtue Fusion come out winners of this much anticipated award.
Best Marketing Campaign 2010
In the Best Marketing Campaign 2010 category we had – Foxy Bingo (The one you want), Tombola Bingo (Emmerdale Sponsorship), Tea & Bingo (Stop Motion TV Ad), Red Bus Bingo (Advertising on Red Buses) and Ladbrokes Bingo (Rolling Balls) – And the winner was – Foxy Bingo with The one you Want.
Best Online Bingo Innovation 2010
Last but by no means least was the award for the Best Online Bingo Innovation 2010. Nominees were, Virtue Fusion (Deal or no Deal), Alvin 5 (Bingo Apps), Tombola Bingo (Bingo Roulette), Costa Bingo (Facebook Integration), Amuso (Weakest Link) and Cozy Games (Multi Hand Bingo) – And the winner was – Virtue Fusion with their innovative Deal or no Deal game.
Virtue Fusion obviously had a good night and was well deserved and we would also like to extend out congratulations to Bingo Port. Foxy Bingo also knows how to run a great marketing campaign, so their award definitely went to the right recipient.

Lots of online bingo sites on the net already seem to be going (World Cup Crazy) so if you were thinking about escaping from all the footy action at an online bingo site……..you should probably think again.
