Many online bingo sites now use facebook as a way to publicise their bingo wares even further, and why not………it’s free and facebook brings them the chance to reach millions of people at a click of a button.
This however may not be the case forever if Facebook do decide to bring in some sort of signup fee. At the moment the only thing chargeable on facebook is pay per click advertising deals etc, but it is free to open an account and run theme related groups…………as in – online bingo groups.
So you could say that facebook is a massive (free advertising) tool and if used right, can really help to optimise a business.
Land based bingo operators like Mecca Bingo and Gala Bingo both have their very own facebook fan pages and Mecca Bingo have utilised this facility to the full in their talent bingo search over the past few weeks.
As we know Mecca Bingo are currently the official partners with Britain’s got Talent………after bagging a two year deal with them. So in conjunction with this they have been looking for a bingo star, with a top prize of £3,000 up for grabs and the chance for the winner to perform in front of a 40,000 + crowd at Wembley next year.
The talent bingo search began in Mecca Bingo land based clubs a few months ago and they then decided to extend this online, via their facebook fan page. This resulted in thousands of new entries and these have now been whittled down to just five by a panel of judges.
Mecca Bingo are now handing the voting reins over to their members by asking them to cast their votes on the top five online finalists. There are only two more places up for grabs in the grand final which is due to be held in September.
So Mecca Bingo are now waiting in anticipation to see just who will be joining the rest of the finalists out of the top online five. Anyone can vote for their favourite by (liking) their choosen act on the Mecca Bingo facebook fan page. The two lucky winners are due to be announced on 6th August by Mecca Bingo, so please make sure you cast your votes before this time.

All land based bingo club operators dreaded the introduction of the smoking ban in all public places, as they believed it would have a very detrimental effect on their business and when it did come into effect in the UK they could not have been more right.
However, I am pleased to say that land based clubs like Mecca Bingo for instance have moved on from the smoking ban issue and are now fighting their way back into bingo contention. A few bingo clubs have built outside smoking areas, so their members can smoke whilst playing party bingo, but for main stage bingo they would still need to go back inside.
Bingo players seemed to have got used to the smoking ban in all public places now (well they had no option really) and are once again heading down to their local bingo. Where outside smoking shelters are not available, players still have the option of popping out for a smoke during the intervals……..but they would miss out on playing party interval games.
This could be a plus for the player though as it has got to save them some cash………but of course it is not hard to work out that this is the area where bingo clubs started to feel the pinch. But with new technology in bingo clubs now players have the option of playing more books by using the Gala Bingo whizz machines for instance, instead of the traditional paper bingo books.
Also Mecca Bingo have introduced some brand new state of the art (super bingo clubs) where having a night out at your local Mecca Bingo hall in Beeston for instance is like going out for a night on the town, with bingo thrown into the mix. Food is served to players at their tables, entertainment is put on and they have a number of different playing areas to suit all bingo tastes.
We are likely to see the introduction of more of these super bingo clubs over the years to come, but this could cause some smaller land based bingo clubs to close down. But as they say, bingo just like any other industry has got to move with the times and if it stops land based bingo going into complete distinction then we just have to embrace this new bingo era.

Online bingo gaming sites like Ladbrokes Bingo have long been able to host their bingo videos on YouTube, but they were not permitted to run ad campaigns on their.
However, by the looks of it things have just changed in this area with Google announcing that it will now permit licensed gambling companies to run advert campaigns on YouTube and Ladbrokes Bingo will be the first to take them up on it, with many other gaming companies to follow suit no doubt.
Google Incorporated now own YouTube after a multi million buyout of the company a while ago and this video sharing website has done nothing but go from strength to strength over the years. Thousands of people log onto YouTube daily, so running a gaming ad campaign on here could prove to be a very profitable venture indeed.
There will be a few terms and conditions related to running gaming display campaigns on YouTube though and one will be that (gaming ad) content will only be displayed when the viewer has verified that they are over the legal gaming age in the UK, which as we know is 18.
By the sounds of it these online bingo and gaming ad campaigns will run on a (click to play) basis, which usually means every time a viewer clicks on the ad (Ladbrokes Bingo) would have to play google a set fee.
Apparently Ladbrokes Bingo have already enlisted the services of marketing agency TBG Digital based in London. So gaming and betting giants Ladbrokes have definitely been very quick of the mark on this one.
It will be interesting to see just what other gaming company’s jump on this all new (YouTube) advertising bandwagon in the not so distant future, but we estimate there to be a fair few. However as with all kinds of advertising, these things do not come cheap.
Last year Ladbrokes Bingo have over a £1 million pound budget for their advertising alone and Foxy Bingo also have an astronomical ad budget. This could be one of the reasons why both these gaming companies are now household names in the UK.

Mecca Bingo continue to lend their support to Marie Curie Cancer Care and they have been doing this through a number of different initiatives, as well as providing a direct link to a special donation (Marie Curie) site, from their homepage.
Despite all the turbulent times the land based bingo industry have been facing, their support for trying to help some very worthwhile charities indeed has never wavered.
Mecca Bingo and the rest of the bingo industry has long been behind helping to raise money for charity and it is great to see this plight go on because without their support some charities would have a much harder time and it would be people who need help the most that would inevitably suffer.
Marie Curie Cancer Care provides high quality nursing support totally free to people living with terminal illness such as cancer and who choose to die at home. They also lend their support to families and run a number of hospices throughout the UK offering specialist care.
Rank interactive has pledged to raise at least £20,000 for Marie Curie Cancer Care in 2010 and they will try to achieve this with the help of their members and staff. Every £20 raised will provide one hour of nursing care and if they reach their target figure this will allow Marie Curie nurses to care for more than 22,000 terminally ill patients. So as they say, every little helps.
When making a donation online you are able to leave a message, which is great for people who want to remember their loved ones, whist giving cash to charity at the same time. The last donation made on the Marie Curie donation page was back in May 2010, from a lady called Susanne. Her message was to her mum and she donated £20. This was then topped up with a gift aid of £5.64.
The online donations do seem to be slacking a bit, with only £65 raised so far online. £250 was raised offline, which currently takes the total up to £315.00, so they really could do with some more support in this area.

If there were not enough networked online bingo sites on the net already, we have heard news today of yet another site getting ready to launch and this one is called, Up Your Bingo. However, this site is not being brought to us by one of the usual bingo suspects, but from MTV Music Television.
Yes by the looks of things MTV Music will be delving into the online game world with their very own online bingo site and this is due to run on globalcom bingo software as part of the Dragonfish network.
MTV have signed a contract with 888 Holdings, the B2B subsidiary of Dragonfish to launch their bingo product, but my question was – are they going to offer online bingo players something different than what is already available to them now?
Well to be honest, the answer to that is a resounding no. Being part of the dragonfish network means that lots of online bingo sites already running on this particular network already offer the exact same thing from their promotions down to their game play. So other than different look homepages, what lies beneath the site is the same.
So you could log onto Bingo Fabulous right now for instance and get exactly what (Up Your Bingo) is going to offer. In my humble opinion you just cannot beat a standalone bingo site on the net, as these networked sites just do not have the same edge.
As MTV Music do have a lot of clought and advertising opportunities through their TV channel, they may just make it in this networked online bingo playing field………………but I for one won’t be holding my breath. If you are a fan of MTV, then get ready to be bombarded with advertisements for their online bingo site (Up Your Bingo) over the coming months, as these are due to be extensive.
However, I must say I do like their choice of online bingo site name. Up Your Bingo has a funny kind of ring to it and it definitely does not conform to the norm, which is not always a bad thing. Up Your Bingo have gone with an all grey background and aluminous yellow mixed in with bright pink for their homepage look.
