Palace Bingo Worker hits Lottery Jackpot

Free Bingo

Audrey White has worked as an assistant manager at the Palace Bingo club in Felixstowe for many years and this lucky lady has just hit a lottery scratch card jackpot to the tune of £1 million pounds! What is astounding about this huge lottery win is that it came about due to a mistake by the supermarket shop assistant who sold Audrey the winning scratch card ticket.

Mrs White went to purchase a lottery scratch card at near her home in Suffolk at her local supermarket. Lottery scratch cards come in many dominations usually ranging between £1 and £5. Audrey asked for a £2 scratch card, but the supermarket checkout girl pulled off a £5 scratch card by mistake.

Audrey had previously won £5 on a scratch card purchase, so decided to keep the £5 ticket and we bet she is glad she did, as she is now £1 million pounds richer. It is not often that you hear about a mistake being made, which actually has the reverse effect of its namesake, but that is most definitely the case here.

It has not been all plain sailing for Mrs White who has three children. Three years ago she faced repossession of her semi detached house in Felixstowe, which could have made her homeless. Thankfully this will never be a worry to the lucky lady anymore, as Audrey plans to pay off her mortgage and put a new conservatory on her home with her winnings.

Speaking about her £1 million lottery scratch card win, Mrs White, said: “I asked for a £2 card and she pulled out the £5 one by mistake. I’d already won £5 on another scratch card so I decided to have a go. I rubbed it off when I got home later and I just couldn’t believe it – I’m still in a state of shock. I’ve got a private bank account in Mayfair. I’ve got my own private banker. This sort of thing doesn’t happen to an assistant bingo manager.”

Audrey has one million reasons to thank the shop assistant for her mistake, so it just goes to show you that some mistakes do have a light at the end of the tunnel.

Gala Bingo Matchmakers

Gala Bingo could become the ‘matchmakers’ of the bingo industry after two of their online bingo players met whilst playing bingo in their chat rooms, fell in love and now plan to marry in Las Vegas this month. Catherine Whitehead and Julian brook, are both avid Gala Bingo players and it is playing online bingo that has now changed their lives forever.

Catherine comes from Preston and Julian from Hull, which means they live around 120 miles apart, so if it were not for the bingo chat rooms provided by Gala Bingo, odds are the now happy couple would never have met.

Julian and Catherine started off by saying (GL), which is the online bingo slang for good luck, to each other in chat. This then progressed into them chatting about everything and anything until their online relationship went even further. Instant messaging and webcam chats followed, so the pair could get to know each other better, until they finally plucked up the courage to meet in person and as they say – It was game set and bingo match from then on.

“One evening I called Julian at midnight and we spoke until 7am,” said Catherine. “I’d never felt this way about anyone before, it just felt so comfortable from the start. The first time they met there was an instant mutual attraction. Catherine added: “We already knew each other really well because we’d spent hours online and on the phone chatting. Meeting each other face to face in Hull just confirmed how compatible we were.”

Lesley Hall, PR manager for Gala Bingo online, said: “We’re thrilled to hear how gala bingo has helped to bring this happy couple together. It is great to hear they are enjoying all the entertainment Gala Bingo has to offer together.”

Catherine and Julian are still currently living apart, but manage to see each other at weekends, where it is love, romance and Gala Bingo all the way. The happy couple often go to Gala Bingo land based bingo clubs together, play online Gala Bingo together and even watch Gala Bingo TV as well! You could say that it Gala Bingo all the way for Catherine and Julian, which makes us wonder if they also have a bingo theme planned for their wedding.

World Record for Highest Ever Bingo Game

25 Gala Bingo employees have just set a new world record for the highest ever played bingo game. This was achieved by them climbing to an altitude of 17,500ft up the world’s tallest mountain – Mount Everest.

Gala Bingo with the help of their staff and customers have been on a massive fund raising mission, where it has been their aim to raise over £1 million pounds for their chosen charity Sue Ryder Care. This latest endeavour not only smashed through the target figure of raising £100,000 towards the charity pot for Sue Ryder Care, but they also made a new world record in the process.

Ross O’ Shaughnessy was one f the Gala Bingo trekkers, speaking about the bingo fundraising event on Mount Everest, he said -

“It’s simply unbelievable to have been part of a world record setting team. Despite all the hardships we endured on the way to Everest base camp, the trek was a once in a lifetime challenge and it’s great to finally be able to say that I’ve trekked to the top of the world, set a new record for Britain’s favourite game and helped raise over £100,000 for Sue Ryder Care. The other trekkers at base camp simply couldn’t believe it when we started pulling out the calling cards, dabbers and bingo balls at 17,500ft for the record attempt – I’m sure they thought we had altitude sickness! But the support, camaraderie and cheers that erupted across base camp when we broke the record is a moment that I will never forget. I hope we did the world of bingo proud.”

Speaking on behalf of Sue Ryder Care, Chief Executive Paul Woodward, said: “On behalf of everyone at Sue Ryder Care I want to say a massive thank you and congratulations to the Gala Coral Everest Base Camp Trekkers. This is a truly fantastic endeavour– firstly in completing the trek but also in the tremendous amount of money that has been raised. This money will go a long way in supporting our work in caring for people living with conditions including Cancer, Stroke, Multiple Sclerosis and Brain injury”.

When Gala Bingo put their mind to it, they always seem to do it well and this has been reiterated in a number of their charity raising campaigns throughout 2009, including the very successful Mrs Obama Bingo push.

Even though economic times are tough, Gala Bingo have not wavered in their plight to raise money for a very worthwhile charity indeed.

Five Bingo Goes Live

Free Bingo

Five Bingo is now live on the net and they are brought to players in conjunction with PartyGaming, the name now behind Foxy Bingo and all other previously owned cashcade bingo sites. Channel five are not the first terrestrial TV channel to launch their very own (Web Based) online bingo site. ITV tried this before them with bingo night live and ITV Bingo, of which they are both no more.

The all new Five Play Bingo programme has been named (The Free Bingo Show) and it is currently being broadcast live each day between 11am and Noon. So for one hour only! Channel Five are airing their all new bingo wares with a number of adverts on the TV channel, plus at their bingo site.

Channel Five’s head of digital media, Jonathan Lewis said: “The business model that underpins commercial TV is changing and broadcasters must diversify their revenue streams. Gaming activities such as Five’s online bingo and casino services are just one such example of how broadcasters can broaden their revenue base beyond traditional sources.”

Just like what ITV Bingo Night Live offered, registration and games on Five Play Bingo is completely free, which is why of course they called it the free bingo show. This however is only open to people aged 18 or over, because although members will not be using their own cash, real cash prizes will be on offer, making channel five fall within the gaming laws. PartyGaming were also the choice for ITV.

Apart from their daily hour long free bingo show, Five Bingo online runs pretty much the same as any other bingo site on the net. Players can sign up and play bingo with them 24 hours a day. They offer a 200% first deposit bonus, plus a number of other promotions and daily specials. Their bingo site is clean cut and tells you pretty much all you need to know.

It will be interesting to see if the bosses behind channel five can make this work, seen as their counterparts ITV removed their free bingo show – bingo night live earlier this year as part of their restructuring.

Bingo Theme for Gary Barlow

Free Bingo

According to a report in the Daily Mirror Take That’s superstar Gary Barlow will be celebrating his 10th Wedding Anniversary with fish, chips and mushy peas, dancing, plus a bit of bingo thrown into the mix. Gary Barlow might have more money than most people ever dream off, but he has always been said to be a grounded guy (unlike some) and this is reiterated with what his anniversary bash will be all about, of which 100 guests are due to attend.

Robbie Williams is thought to be on the guest list and as we know he has already been known to turn his hand at a good old game of bingo. Robbie reportedly even won a designer handbag in a charity bingo game he was playing in America a few years ago, but we never did find out what he did with his bingo prize!

Gary and wife Dawn’s wedding festivities will be taking place at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Knightsbridge, London, and the word on the street is that the dress code for this event will be – Glamorous.

A source close to the happy couple spoke to the Daily Mirror about Mr and Mrs Barlow’s anniversary bash, they said, “There will be oodles of the finest champagne, of course. And the venue is very swish. But Gary and Dawn are everyday folk at heart. They didn’t want daft French scoff. Who needs it when you can have fish, chips and a good dollop of mushy peas? Even the invites are typical of them. There’s a bottle of champagne with bingo balls bursting out of the top. They might be worth a fortune but they know how to have a good time, and although they’ve been married for 10 years, they’re still madly in love.”

Gary and Dawn have three children together and they currently reside in London, so they are certainly keeping their 10th wedding anniversary celebrations close to home. Bingo may be in the midst of this event, but Gary and Dawn have not scrimped on this event by any means with around £250,000 reportedly being shelled out for the venue and all the trimmings that go with it!
